In Puglia, Italy’s heel, conical trulli share the landscape with limestone fortified farmhouses. Family-restored Masseria La Maison occupies 10 hectares of ancient olives and farmland. For families and friends, its bright lounge opens onto a pergola-shaded terrace overlooking the pool and Mediterranean scrub. Five bedrooms span farmhouse, annex and self-contained trullo; thick walls and generous windows encourage summer breezes, while a fireplace warms cooler evenings. Carpignano Salentino is seven minutes away; Otranto’s castle, cathedral, beach and waterfront fish restaurants and Lecce’s basilica, Piazza del Duomo and Roman amphitheatre are within 30 minutes. Pine-backed, white-sand Spiaggia di Torre dell’Orso, with clear waters and Two Sisters sea stacks, is 15 minutes away.

The details

The main farmhouse contains a sitting room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a guest bathroom and two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom and garden access.
A traditional stone trullo adjoins the main house, has a waterfall shower and is entered from outside.
One annex contains two ensuite bedrooms with the option to interconnect; a second annex has one double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
The outdoor terrace provides a sitting and dining area, alongside a barbecue and a 16m pool.

Extra notes

A deposit of 50% is payable when booking to secure the reservation. The minimum stay is 4 nights in January, February, March, April, June, September, November and December, and 3 nights in May and October. Arrival can be arranged on any day of the week. A €1,000 security deposit must be paid before arrival. It is returned within 2 weeks of departure, less any deductions for damage or loss to the property.
