Restored by Sting and Trudie Styler, Il Palagio combines Italian interiors with internationally collected furnishings. Nine main-house bedrooms have varied decorative styles and spacious bathrooms with freestanding baths. Guesthouses occupy a former carpenter’s workshop and a lemon-tree conservatory, with countryside views. The gardens feature Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti’s former fountain, a chess terrace and a lawn-set pool. Across 365 hectares, woodland and lakes invite walks and picnics. The organic vineyard and farm supply an estate shop; annual production includes 12,000 olive-oil bottles and 5,000 honey jars. A pizzeria and trattoria offer aperitivi, food, music and Tuscan views; a recording studio adds another dimension.

The estate comprises several buildings: the main villa has nine bedrooms, and each of the two separate guest houses has three.
The main villa contains most shared spaces, including meditation areas, living rooms, a library, a bar and a dining room.
One guest house has a natural pool, hot tub, living room, kitchen and dining room; another has an extra-large dining room for special occasions.
Every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and bathtub; six bedrooms can be arranged with twin beds on request.
Ramps are available, and most bathrooms and showers can accommodate wheelchairs.

Extra notes

August bookings require a minimum of seven nights. During the remainder of the year, the minimum stay is available on request, with flexible check-in days. Before May 15 and after September 15, the nine-bedroom main villa can be rented on its own, with annexes added as requested; booking the whole estate is not required. The approach road is unpaved, in good condition and accessible. Unprotected drops and slopes occur around the property, so young children must be supervised at all times. Staff live on the estate and are available when needed while respecting guests’ privacy. Several cats live on the property. Care is taken to keep the environment clean and mindful of allergens, but guests with cat allergies or sensitivities should take appropriate precautions. The cats are generally friendly; guests should nevertheless approach cautiously and respect their space. External chefs are not allowed. A private chef can be arranged on request at an additional charge. Events can be held at Il Palagio, with an event fee payable in addition to the rental. The property forms part of an operating wine estate, so some noise may occur. Local regulations require city tax to be paid on site in cash, at approximately €1 per person per night.
