This restored Chianti hamlet near Florence has generations of artistic heritage, including visits from a Renaissance portraitist of nobles. Six settings include a landmark-facing main villa, a frescoed chapel villa and a romantic suite with crisp linens. Each villa has a private garden; interiors feature carved stone fireplaces, polished wood and marble bathrooms. Extra notes

An English-speaking concierge is available to help guests from a small office on the ground floor of the Fattoria building. Formerly the residence of a distinguished Renaissance family of artists, Villa Colle Ramole now houses a resident artist and his wife. His work features in notable private collections and galleries internationally, including the Uffizi Gallery’s Prints and Drawings Collection in Florence. The couple occupies a private, self-contained part of the estate. They use the main entrance but have no access to the villas, restaurant, spa, swimming pool or outdoor areas. Pool heating can be requested for an additional charge, with notice required at least 14 days before arrival. All catering must be supplied by the villa’s management and in-house team. Outside chefs and third-party caterers are not allowed. A private chef and cooking classes are available on request for an additional charge. Local regulations require the city tax to be paid on site in cash, at approximately €2 per person per night. Minimum stays are 3 nights in low season, 4 nights in mid season and 5 nights in peak season.
