Lerins Retreat occupies Louis XIV’s former palace on Sainte-Marguerite, a pine-covered, car-free island 15 minutes from Cannes by boat. The island’s only private home, the walled estate was restored in 2022. Its buildings include a former Governor’s House and a turreted watchtower, with 12 ensuite bedrooms featuring marble bathrooms and generous dressing rooms. A seven-metre pool overlooks 3.5 acres of olive and lemon gardens. The tower contains a casino and wine and cigar cellar, while the staffed wellness centre offers Augustinus Bader facials and Seed to Skin Tuscany treatments. Offshore, Jason deCaires Taylor’s six-head underwater sculpture museum is accessible by snorkelling.

Three separate cottages each contain an ensuite double bedroom.
Three additional double bedrooms beside the pool each have an ensuite bathroom and private terrace.
The wellness centre includes two treatment rooms, a sauna, hammam and gym.
Sunbeds, a dining space and a summer kitchen surround the seven-metre heated pool.
The extensive gardens include a helipad and provide direct access to the beach and sea.
The fully staffed property includes catering for daily breakfast, three-course lunches and dinners, and afternoon tea or a snack.
Transfers to Cannes between 10am and 7pm, together with daily laundry, are included.

Extra notes

A security deposit of EUR 15,000 per booking is due 45 days before arrival. The deposit is refunded to the tenant no later than one month after the rental ends, less any amounts owed for rental repairs, damage or deterioration caused by the tenant to the accommodation, furniture or its contents, and lost keys or objects. Groceries for lunch and dinner are charged separately.
