Exposed beams, terracotta floors, lavender, cypresses and roses give Villa Amelie its Provençal character. The living room has an open fireplace, cushioned sofas, vaulted French doors, chess, poker and giant dice. Frank Beken’s sailing photographs, shell motifs, stripes and small porthole-style windows introduce nautical touches, complemented by southerly sea breezes. The 14m infinity pool overlooks the sea towards Île du Levant, in the Îles d’Hyères. Nearby, car-free Port-Cros offers cycling and seafood at L’Anse de Port Cros or Le Manoir. Walk from Plage de Gigaro to Cap Taillatt, a 1968 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang filming location, or visit La Grange for wine, charcuterie and weekend live music.
