Built by an architect and photographer who spent childhood summers on Crete, Villa Cienta overlooks the sea and Kolokytha. Personal touches include a signed copy of Victoria Hislop’s The Island. Mediterranean planting surrounds a separate garden suite, while an infinity pool and sea-view hammocks invite time outdoors. Reached by a steep hillside road, the villa is 15 minutes’ drive from Elounda. Shared sports facilities include tennis, pickleball and basketball, alongside a courtside pavilion. A semi-open gym opens onto a table-tennis terrace. One bedroom is wheelchair-friendly, with mobility adjustments possible. Sister property Villa Cien accommodates another 16 guests; together, the villas welcome 32.

Standard rental inclusions cover water, gas and electricity, Wi-Fi, air conditioning/heating where available, bed linen and towels on arrival with weekly changes for stays exceeding 7 nights, welcome items, departure cleaning, and garden and pool upkeep. At some properties, electricity, air conditioning and heating may be subject to a weekly usage allowance where specified in the extra notes.

The details

On the ground floor, a fully fitted kitchen includes a dining area and opens onto a terrace. The open-plan living room has a fireplace and study.
The two ground-floor bedrooms comprise one king-size room and one twin room, which can be arranged as a double on request. Both have en-suite bathrooms and sea views; one also has a small terrace and direct pool access.
The first floor has two king-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and its own sea-view terrace. The main bedroom has internal access; the second is accessible only from outside.
Two twin bedrooms occupy the lower ground floor, both convertible to doubles. Each has an en-suite bathroom and access to a small terrace beneath the pool. One also contains a sofa bed.
A separate garden annexe contains two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a terrace with a hot tub. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan and sea views. The twin bedroom, convertible to a double, also has an en-suite bathroom; when not needed for sleeping, it can become a lounge to form a larger suite.
A semi-open gym contains exercise equipment, weights and a boxing bag, and leads onto a terrace with table tennis. There is also a dining area with a barbecue and poolside seating.
The newly constructed sports pitch is shared with the sister property and includes a tennis court and basketball hoops for a range of games. A cabinet holds rackets and balls, and a private courtside pavilion has a sofa and a stocked drinks fridge.
Guests have access to the estate’s play area, shared with the sister property, with a climbing frame, swing, abacus, seesaw and other play equipment.
A substantial welcome hamper of treats selected personally by the owner is included with each stay.

Extra notes

Pool heating can be arranged on request for EUR 600 per week, payable locally. Breakfast service is available on request for an additional charge. The hillside position maximises the views, but the approach road is fairly steep. The terraced grounds include drops, low terrace walls and stairs without railings, which may make the property unsuitable for young children. A temporary pool fence can be installed on request for additional child safety. This is a basic, practical barrier rather than a permanent or decorative feature, intended to provide an extra safeguard for young children.
