Nine kilometres from Lucca, Villa Controni overlooks Vorno from landscaped grounds. Restored over 15 years, it has baroque pieces in every room and 12 bedrooms with beds handmade in Pisa. Its frescoed, chandelier-lit dining room seats 24; outside, dining takes place among 300-year-old camellias, recalling noble families’ garden rivalries. A pine-lined drive, fountain, mimosa and rose gardens, and arched loggia frame the house. There are billiards beneath cloud-painted walls, a barbecue, pizza oven, pool, tennis courts, concierge, chef and stocked wine cellar. Nearby are Parole d’Oro woodland, the 18th-century Nottolini aqueduct, hillside walks overlooking Lucca, its Renaissance walls and medieval streets, and traditional restaurant La Cecca.

To protect all guests' privacy, outside suppliers may not enter the estate. Additional services must be organised exclusively through the estate's concierge team, which can be contacted before arrival. This coordination is included in the rental. Guests may use the estate's multi-purpose tennis court, which can also be configured for soccer or volleyball. It is shared with the estate's other houses. Villa Controni belongs to an estate that also comprises Villa del Fattore, Casa Matteucci and Il Frantoio. Within these shared grounds, the villa retains complete privacy with its own garden and swimming pool. Heating, air-conditioning and electricity are included up to 2,000 kWh per week. Meal and beverage charges are €20 per person for breakfast and €50–€60 per person for lunch or dinner, depending on the chosen menu. Chef service covers breakfast and one main meal on six days each week, with Wednesday off. Housekeeping takes place on six mornings each week, with Sunday off.
