In Quatrim do Sul, Portugal, Villa Formosa combines Moroccan design with Portuguese craftsmanship around an olive-tree courtyard. Zellige tiles, painted-bowl basins, arches and timber latticework shape the interiors. Two of its six ensuite bedrooms occupy a self-contained guest house with an open-plan kitchen and living room.
Mediterranean gardens offer sea-view terraces, a 14m saltwater pool and an outdoor kitchen with pizza oven and gas and charcoal barbecues. Praia dos Cavacos is a 20-minute downhill walk away. Fuzeta and Olhão, each ten minutes’ drive away, provide boats to Ria Formosa’s barrier islands; nearby habitats support flamingos, purple herons and other wildlife.

- The main house has three ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor. One is accessible only from outside via the patio. Another has twin beds that can be arranged as a king-size bed on request. The third features a king-size bed, an ensuite shower room and access to the pool terrace.
- The ground floor also contains an open-plan kitchen, a living room and a second sitting room, opening onto the pool terrace.
- Reached by stairs, the main house’s fourth bedroom is on the first floor. It has a super king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, a walk-in wardrobe and a private terrace overlooking the pool and sea.
- The separate guest house contains a kitchen, living room, roof terrace and two ensuite bedrooms. One bedroom has twin beds that can be arranged as a king-size bed on request.
- The 7,000-square-metre grounds contain olive groves, several terraces, dining and seating areas, an outdoor kitchen with barbecues and a pizza oven, a heated 14m saltwater swimming pool and a fire pit.
- Recreation facilities comprise a professional-grade pétanque court, a football goal and balls, croquet and softball sets, table tennis, tennis rackets, two bodyboards, fins and four bicycles with helmets.

Check-in between 20:00 and 22:30 carries a EUR 50 charge, payable on arrival. Arrivals after 22:30 must check in the following day.
Displayed rates cover up to 12 guests and include the Guest House. For a lower rate using only the main house, with four bedrooms accommodating up to eight guests, please enquire with your Villa Specialist.
All bedrooms and the cottage sitting room have air conditioning. Ceiling fans are provided in every bedroom and in the open-plan living area near the kitchen.
Drops within the grounds make this property unsuitable for recommendation to families with children under six. Guests wishing to stay with young children must discuss all potential drops and hazards with their Villa Specialist and sign a Statement of Responsibility.
