An acclaimed Italian journalist and writer turned this 1950s hotel into a family home conceived as a cultured seaside salon. Owner Margherita retains his books, art, antiques and original wicker furniture, combining nautical blues, off-whites, terracotta, Italian marble, bespoke cabinetry, patterned fabrics and local craftsmanship. Across the road from the beach, near clubs, restaurants, bars and boutiques, the villa has spacious ensuite bedrooms and indoor dining spaces. Poolside daybeds, changing huts and a shower complement olive-filled, fragrant gardens and shaded dining for 20. Pietrasanta is 15 minutes’ drive away; Viareggio’s promenade and seafood restaurants are 25 minutes away. Cinque Terre, Lucca and Pisa suit day trips.
