Built into Palaiokastro’s rocky cliffs, Villa Mareva pairs contemporary facilities with bright bedrooms, flowing communal spaces, cream interiors and dark oak. Almost every window overlooks the sea, with Heraklion’s skyline eastward. The open-plan kitchen-dining space leads to two-level terraces with two pools, a gym, sea-facing yoga deck, outdoor kitchen, barbecue and shaded dining. A rocky path reaches a secluded cove. Beneath a Venetian castle, Palaiokastro offers ruins, tavernas, pebbled beaches and rocky-seabed snorkelling. Helidoni and Pantanassa are under ten minutes’ drive away; Heraklion’s archaeology, restaurants and bars are under twenty. Nearby family attractions include a water park, aquarium, planetarium and dinosaur-themed park.

The details

The main bedroom occupies the first floor and has a king-size bed, an en suite bathroom and a private sea-view balcony.
Two further first-floor bedrooms each have an en suite bathroom and a king-size bed convertible into twin beds; one also has a private terrace.
The lower ground floor contains two independent studio apartments, each with its own entrance, a king-size bed, a compact living area, a kitchenette and an en suite bathroom.
An open-plan kitchen and dining room includes a table for 10, while the spacious living room opens onto the terrace.
The outdoor spaces occupy two levels, with shaded seating, a Broil King barbecue, a small kitchen and dining for eight.
Two pools are accompanied by sun loungers, daybeds and umbrellas. The main pool includes hydromassage and can be heated on request.
The gym provides fitness equipment and free weights. Yoga equipment is available for use on the outdoor deck facing the sea.
A short, uneven rocky path with steps leads to a secluded sandy beach cove. Gates and a steep stretch form part of the route, which may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.
Villa Mareva has fencing around the entire property, a gated entrance and parking for up to four cars.

Extra notes

The main pool can be heated on request for an additional EUR 70 per day. Advance notice is required, with a minimum heating period of 7 days. Greece’s Climate Resilience Tax is charged in addition to the rental price. From April through October, the charge is EUR 15 per day, payable locally. The route to the beach follows a rugged, uneven path with steps and gated or fenced sections descending to the cove. Some stretches are steep, and the route is unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.
